Mayhew.it changed it’s hosting today to HostGator. The site was previously hosted on a Dell Optiplex under my desk at work. The change to dedicated hosting gives me 24/7 support, higher reliability, increased performance and greater security to name just a few of the benefits.The transition went smoothly, I purchased a hosting package yesterday afternoon after a live chat with their sales guys. Later that evening I FTP’ed the MySQL database and php to a temporary folder on their server and they took care of the rest! The new hosting took effect from around 8am GMT this morning. So far the support I have received from the Gator guys has been second to none and long may it continue!

This month’s image is from the Lake District in Northern England. I took it from a roadside pulloff in Grasmere, Cumbria. The reflection of the hill/mountain was so clear this day, I knew it would make a lovely photo.

I took the shot handheld at ISO 200 for 1/100s at f/8. The image was cropped slightly to take away the excess lake and sky. I have a panoramic version on my flickr stream.
