The sunset as I drove home last night was stunning. I just about caught the tail end of it with my camera phone as I picked up a package from the local UPS depot. Not the most ideal location but I captured some of its beauty nevertheless!

Last month was a busy one so I thought I would wrap it all up into one concise post. Early in the month I received my EAD (Employment Authorization Document) which marked the beginning of the long awaited job search!
On the 15th we attended an interview with USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services) for my Permanent Resident Card (green card). The interview went well and my permanent residency was approved! They took my EAD card away from me as the green card also allows me to work.
Last week I successfully secured employment, only 3 weeks after I got my work authorization! I attended a local job fair last Tuesday and heard about a job in nearby Portsmouth, I had a phone interview for the job on Wednesday and got called in for a face-to-face interview on Thursday. Later that day I was offered the position!
This last Monday (which technically isn’t January but oh well) I went to Concord and sat my written and practical driving test. I passed with 29/30 for the written which was better than I expected as there was a lot to learn. The practical test also went fine. I was out on the road for about 15 minutes with a NH state trooper and on arrival back at the DMV office was told I had passed albeit with one minor speeding offense! The office then took the worst picture imaginable of me for my permanent licence which arrives in 2 weeks.
So tomorrow is my first working day in the United States. It will be strange working again after 5 months out but I am thankful for the position and really can’t wait to start earning USD and stop spending my worthless GBP’s!
