Last weekend was another leaf peeping opportunity as most of the state was displaying peak foliage! We took a drive out to the Monadnock region to take in the autumn colour.
We spotted this heart shaped tree near the apartment before we left.
One of our first stops was at Otter Brook Dam in Roxbury, NH. The dam is part of a flood control network to protect the city of Keene from flooding from the Connecticut River.
A familiar site all over New England are covered bridges. This one is Coombs Covered Bridge in Winchester, NH:
A street which leads to the covered bridge.
On Sunday morning on my way into Keene I noticed an early morning mist at Wilson Pond in Swanzey.
Later the same morning we went for a picturesque walk around Goose Pond in Keene. The fall colour was very pretty and the setting, very peaceful.
I would not like to be anywhere near this tree when the beaver returns!
A beautiful Blue Jay made an appearance before we returned home. They are quite common in the state but I always seem to be without my camera when I see one! Was very happy to have captured this one.
And my favourite photo from the day, also from Goose Pond in Keene.
