We ended our Labor Day with a walk on the beach in Rye and a drive through New Castle and Portsmouth.
Jenness Beach, Rye

A quahog that had been washed up. I saved it from hungry seagulls by returning it to the water!

I like the turtle at the front of this sand castle.

New Castle, NH
A pretty place to lay rest.

Today is Labor Day in the U.S. and one of the few occasions each year that I get a day off work! We drove to Vaughan Woods in South Berwick for a woodland walk to Hamilton House, an 18th century stately house overlooking the Salmon Falls River. The house was restored over 100 years ago to it’s former glory by Emily Tyson and her stepdaughter Elise. The house was closed for tours today so we appreciated it from its beautiful gardens.
