Thunder and Lightning Storm

Last night we had a huge thunderstorm. It started around 5pm just as I was leaving work. The sky came over very dark and the thunder on the way home was car shaking!

Here is a picture I took of the ominous sky and a video of some of the lightning and thunder.

Today is the first day of spring and this weekend my bird feeder has seen a hive of activity, including plenty of appearances by Chickadee’s who are yet to notice the nesting box hanging on our upper deck. Oh well, there is still plenty of time.

Summer Sun Photos on WMUR News at 6

During my lunch break yesterday I drove down to Wallis Sands Beach to take some photos of the beach goers enjoying the spring heatwave. I submitted them to WMUR and they were shown yesterday afternoon on the 6 o’clock news!

First Day of Spring

Spring is in the air. The temperatures are slowly rising and the snow has mostly melted away.

It’s been a busy few weeks, the Subaru broke beyond economical repair so we had to buy a new one (a 2006 Subaru Outback). I got a job, nice and local, very similar to what I was doing in the UK. We are also looking at going away for July 4th weekend and hope to find something nice and affordable. We are also still struggling to get our wedding pictures from our photographer! I am hoping this will all get resolved in the next week or so.

This weekend we are planning to take a trip to Portland. I have not used my camera much this past month so I am itching to get back into photography mode and take some nice photos up in Maine!

BirdCam – A Sad Ending

Heavy rain on Monday saw the BirdCam go offline for the day but today it was back in full working order. Unfortunately when the camera came back online, the pictures were less than pleasing. There is only one baby blue tit visible in the nest and regretfully it’s dead. The last few days the number of blue tits fell from the initial 10 to just 5 on Sunday.

Unfortunately the Bank Holiday weather caused the camera to fail at just the wrong moment so it is unlikely that we will know what happened. However, we had noticed that the birds were not growing as fast as expected so we are assuming the adult parents may have had trouble competing with other birds for food.
